Afcons Infra wins Rs 1,011 crore Civil Work Contract of Ahmedabad Metro Rail project

New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) on 2nd November 2020 opened the financial bids of Civil Work Contract Package C1 of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project which was floated in January 2020 to construct a 14.36 km elevated stretch under Phase 2.

As per the result of the financial bids, Afcons Infrastructure Limited emerged as the lowest bidder among the other seven contenders. The financial position of each bidder is shown below:

  • Afcons Infrastructure Limited: Rs 1,011.59 Crore (L1)
  • ITD Cementation (India) Limited: Rs 1052.30 Crore (L2)
  • Larsen & Toubro Limited: Rs 1,057.24 Crore (L3)
  • GR Infraprojects Limited: Rs 1,086.71 Crore (L4)
  • J Kumar Infraprojects Limited: Rs 1,134.29 Crore (L5)

However, the other three bidders viz. KEC International Limited, Ranjit Buildcon – Evrascon JV and China State Construction Engg Corporation – Gayatri Projects JV did not found technically compliant as per the terms and conditions of the tender notice, hence their financial bids were not opened.

The scope work includes design and construction of the elevated section from Motera to GNLU (8.124 km) and GNLU to GIFT City (5.420 km) with a total of 10 stations at Koteshwar Road, Vishwakarma College, Tapovan Circle, Narmada Canal, Koba Circle, Juna Koba, Koba Gam, Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) and GIFT City.

The bids now sent to the tender evaluation committee for the evaluation of bids so that the letter of acceptance can be issued to the lowest bidder. Afcons Infrastructure has quoted Rs 1,011.59 crore which is the lower amount than the estimated tender value of GMRC i.e. Rs Rs 1017.31 Crore. Hence, there are more chances to issue LoA to the lowest bidder.

On 21st October 2020, Ranjit Buildcon Limited emerged as the lowest bidder for contract package C2 for the construction of 6.478 km elevated viaducts and 5 stations from CH. 25467.443m to 31945.443m and 0.679 km elevated viaducts and ramp for depot entry in connection with Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase – II from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir (excluding E&M, architectural finishing, and roofing).
