DMRC starts work on Delhi Metro Phase 4 projects

New Delhi (Urban Transport News): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started working on its Phase-4 project and tenders for the construction of the remaining three new lines will be issued in two weeks. The other three lines of this phase are also expected to be approved after the Lok Sabha elections. According to information received from DMRC, the process of preparing a tender document has been started. DMRC also started the field survey work to check the utilities are present, which will need to be shifted during construction. The authority has also started the paperwork on getting the approval of the remaining three lines of this project after the Loksabha Elections.

According to DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh, senior officials have been deployed to start work on the three lines and necessary plans were also made for the utility of Manpower. Construction work on Phase-4 will be started at the grassroots level in the next 4-6 months. DMRC had proposed to make 6 new corridors for Metro Phase-4. Its total length is 103.93 km and 79 new stations were to be built. The central cabinet has cleared only three corridors right now. These are Aerocity to Toukalabad, Janakpuri West to RK Ashram and Mukundpur to Maujpur.

Their total length is 61.679 km and a total of 46 new stations are to be built on the three corridors. Mangu Singh said that the contractors are also very excited about the work of Phase-4. The remaining three lines which will also get clearance from the Central government soon. In this case, DMRC wants to complete the initial work related to those three lines at its own level so that the work can be started on those lines as soon as the clearances are received. These lines are Lajpat Nagar to Saket G block, Inderlok to Indraprastha and Rithala to Bavana and Narela.

The total length of the three lines is 42.27 km and a total of 33 new Metro stations have to be built on these lines. Of these, the Rithala-Bawana-Narela line is very important, because it connects the rural areas of the outskirts of Delhi to the metro network. The sources of the urban development ministry also said that there is no doubt about the three lines at the government level. Hopefully, the three lines will be approved after the Lok Sabha elections.
