North Eastern Railway installs Automatic Coach Wash Plant in Varanasi Division

Varanasi, India (Urban Transport News): The North Eastern Railways (NER) of Indian Railways has recently installed a modern Automatic Coach Wash Plant (ACWP) along with Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) with the capacity of 30000 litres in Varanasi Division for washing of mainline train cochess in very short time. The plant has been installed successfully and started working at Manduadih Coaching Depot during the difcullt panedemic times. This plant has been manufactured, supplied and commissioned by Gujarat-based compnay Nissan Clean India Pvt. Ltd.

"Indian Railways has developed an state-of-the-art method for cleaning of the coaches of trains. The NER has started cleaning the coaches of the trains from the Automatic Coach Wash Plant. This will save hours of time and wastage of water will also be stopped and this new system will make the railway coaches shine, said Ashok Kumar," Public Relations Officer, NER.

"This automatic coach washing plant has been started at Manduadih Coaching Depot. An ETP with a capacity of 30,000 litres has also been installed there along with ACWP. This treatment plant will recycle the wasted water after cleaning so that it can be reused," said Vijay Kumar Panjiar, Divisional Railway Manager (NER), adding that the traditional way of washing the cleaning of trains takes more time and the water consumption is also very high.

SP Srivastava, Senior Divisional Engineer Mechanical (C&W) said, with the help of this automatic coach washing plant, the time taken in cleaning will be saved and about 250 coaches can be cleaned in a day. Besides less water and soap will be used during cleaning which will be eco-freindly.

The Automatic Coach Washing Plant (ACWP) is a multistage external cleaning system for coaches of trains by using high pressure water jet, horizontal and vertical rotating nylon combination brushes.
