Voestalpine bags Rs 64.52 crore Track Work Contract for Kanpur and Agra Metro

Lucknow, India (Urban Transport News): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) on 16th September 2020 has issued a letter of acceptance (LoA) worth Rs 64.52 crore to Voestalpine VAE VKN India Pvt. Ltd. for track work package (KNPAGT-2) for Kanpur and Agra Metro Rail projects.

Under this contract, the firm has to supply standard gauge UIC 60 turnouts, scissor crossovers and check rails for the proposed metro rail projects in Kanpur and Agra in 24 months of period.

"Based on the technical and financial evaluation of offers submitted on 18.06.2020, as per the terms and conditions of the tender KNPAGT-02, the tender has been awarded to the lowest evaluated offer of M/s Voestalpine VAE VKN India Pvt. Ltd. on 16.09.2020 at a total INR 64,52,00,551.00 with the approval of competent authority i.e. MD/UPMRC Ltd.," said in the Notice of award issued by UPMRCL.

The tender was invited in March 2020 with an estimated value of Rs 68.5 crore. Technical bids were opened in June 2020 whereby two bidders viz. Voestalpine VAE VKN India Pvt. Ltd. and Vossloh Cogifer S.A. submitted the bids. The evaluation of technical bids was completed on 25th August 2020 and after that financial bids were opened in the first week of September 2020.

Now UPMRC has to finalize two other track work contract packages i.e. KNPAGT-01 and KNPAGT-04 under which bids invited for the supply of 17,700 MT Head Hardened Rails (60 E1, IRS-T-12-2009, 1080 grade HH) and 1620 MT Rails (UIC 60 / 60 E1, IRS-T-12-2009, 880 grade, Class A) respectively.
