Detailed Project Report for Rs 10,989 crores Uttarakhand Metrolite ready

Dehradun, India (Urban Transport News): The Uttarakhand Metro Rail, Urban Infrastructure & Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (UkMRC) has prepared the detailed project report (DPR) of Metrolite system for Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh City. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 10,989.27 crores. The project has been given a five years deadline and expected to be commissioned in 2026.

The report proposed four corridors with a total distance of 94.036 km. The first corridor would be 11.389 km long made between ISBT and Kandholi depot while the second corridor between FRI and Raipur and the third corridor between GK University and Rishikesh would be 13.975 km and 34.155 km. long and the fourth corridor will cover 34.517 km between Nepali Farm and Vidhan Sabha.

Corridor-1 runs via ISBT Dehradun to Kandholi Depot, through ISBT Dehradun, Sewla Kalan, ITI, Lalpul, Chamanpuri, Pathri Bagh, Dehradun Railway Station, Dehradun Court, Ghantaghar, Gandhi Park, Sachivalya, Kandholi and Kandholi Depot.

Corridor-2 runs from FRI to Raipur via FRI, Ballupur Chowk, IMA Blood Bank, Doon School, Malhotra Bazar, Ghantaghar, CCMC, Aragarh Chowk, Nehru Colony, Vidhan Sabha, Upper Badrish Colony, Upper Nathanpur, Ordnance Factory, Hathi Khana Chowk and Raipur.

A total of 28 (13 in the first corridor and 15 in the second corridor) stations have been proposed along both the corridor and all the stations are Elevated.

Corridor-3 runs southwest to north-east via Gurukul Kangdi University, Bhumanand Hospital, Sitapur, Jwalapur, UKPSC, Gulab Bagh, Bus Stand Mayapur, Shankaracharya Chowk, Laltaro Bridge, Har Ki Podi, Doodadhari, Shanti Kunj, Haripur Kalan, Raiwala, Nepali Farms, Shyampur, Bibiwala, IDPL Colony, Bapu Gram and Rishikesh; runs from south to north.

Corridor-4 runs northwards from Nepali Farms to Vidhan Sabha Dehradun via Nepali Farms, Chidderwala, Lal Tappad, Bhaniawala, Doiwala, CISMR, Harrawala, Balawala, Mohkampur, Jogiwala, Shastri Nagar, Vidhan Sabha.

Stations have been located so as to serve passenger requirements and to enable convenient integration with other modes of transport. Efforts have been made to propose station locations at a uniform inter-station distance as far as feasible. The average inter-station distance in the city is ~ 1.5 km.

The daily ridership expected 4,62,078 in 2026, 5,28,404 by 2031, 7,01,075 by 2041 and 9,16,609 by 2051.

The detailed project report is prepared with the help of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)according to new Metro Rail policy and the standard specifications issued by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Govt. of India.
