HCC-led JV bags first underground tunneling contract of Delhi Metro Phase IV

New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): The consortium of Hindustan Construction Company Limited and Vensar Constructions Company Limited (VCCL) emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the first underground tunneling contract (package DC-06) of phase IV of Delhi Metro Rail project. A total of four bidders HCCL-VCCL JV, Afcon Infrastructure Limited, Tata Projects Limited, and SUCG-STEC JV participated in the contract package DC-06 whereas Tata Projects Limited and Afcons Infrastructure Limited secured L2 and L3 positions respectively and SUCG-STEC JV declared disqualified in technical evaluation.

The detailed scope of work includes the Design and Construction of Twin Tunnel by Shield TBM, Cut & Cover Tunnel box, Underground ramp and one Underground station namely Krishna Park Extn. with Entry/Exit & Connecting subway by Box pushing method including Architectural Finishing, Water Supply, Sanitary Installation & Drainage works from chainage 805.110mt. to 2830.863mt. (UP Line) & from chainage 788.198 mt. to 2814.745 mt. (DN Line) of Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Corridor (Extension of Line 8) of Delhi Metro Phase IV. The tender was floated in the first week of October 2019 and HCCL-VCCL JV has quoted a total of Rs 489 crore against the tender value Rs 478.12 crores estimated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC).

The comparative statement of rates quoted by all three technically qualified bidders are as under:-

1. HCCL-VCCL JV: Rs 489.00 crore (L1)

2. Tata Projects Limited: 495.27 crore (L2)

3. Afcon Infrastructures Limited: Rs 643.50 crore (L3) The letter of acceptance will be issued by DMRC after the evaluation of the financial bid.
