Patna (Urban Transport News): The Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRC) has made some changes in existing Patna Metro rail route which was going from Patna Junction to ISBT via Gandhi Maidan, Ashok Rajpath, Bahadurpur. Now the metro will pass through Rajendranagar. On the new route, it is proposed to change the route going from Rajendranagar to Kumharrar-Ganga Bridge and Zero Mile to Rajendranagar to Malahi Pakdi and then it is proposed to go from Zero Mile to ISBT Metro Depot via the new bypass.
According to the new proposal, the metro route going from Danapur to Patna Junction-Mithapur bus stand towards Etawarpur will be connected to the two-phase metro by making a line on the bypass. This new alignment has been prepared by Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited. The proposal for changing in new route has been submitted to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which will construct the Patna metro rail project.
Officials from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) also inspected the Patna Metro Rail Corporation office located on Boring Road. They have inspected about sitting arrangement for the employees in the office. Officials said that the office has been shifted to the new building and currently functioning on the seventh floor. If the staff increases, the scope will be expanded on another floor below. In tha last board meeting, the PMRC has taken a decision to sign an Memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to construct the phase I of Patna Metro Rail project. After siging the MoU, DMRC will start the work and complete the project in five years.
The DMRC will also operate and maintain the Patna Metro Rail for 1.5 years. After this, the project will be handed over to Patna Metro Rail Corporation. However, even though the DMRC has been given the responsibility for the construction, the team of officials of Patna Metro will monitor the construction work at the local level itself. For this, Patna Metro Rail Corporation will make appointments of new members for the team.
