New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): In a major stride towards enhancing the country's railway services, the Indian Railways has given the green light for the introduction of 50 additional Amrit Bharat Express services nationwide. The announcement was made by Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday through his official account, signaling a significant expansion of this innovative rail service.
This move follows the successful inauguration of the initial two Amrit Bharat Express trains by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 30, 2023. The positive reception and efficient performance of these trains have prompted the decision to introduce 50 more services, reflecting the commitment to providing high-quality rail travel experiences.
At the core of the Amrit Bharat Express initiative is the commitment to 'Make in India,' a flagship program by the Indian Railways to promote indigenous manufacturing and innovation. The trains are meticulously designed to offer superfast express services for intercity travel, incorporating several key features:
1. Semi-Coupler Technology: Provides passengers with a smooth and jerk-free journey experience at a maximum speed of 130 km/h.
2. Push-Pull Approach: Implements a unique operational strategy blending speed, efficiency, comfort, and affordability.
3. Enhanced Acceleration and Deceleration: Ensures time-saving maneuvers at bridges, curves, and other speed-restricted zones.
4. Additional Amenities: Includes horizontal sliding windows, wider gangways sealed against dust, aerosol-based fire suppression systems in toilets and electrical cubicles, emergency disaster management lighting, and floor guide fluorescent strips.
5. Sealed Gangways: Facilitates safe transitions between coaches while minimizing noise and vibrations.
Ensuring passenger safety and comfort, the Amrit Bharat Express is equipped with Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches known for their sleek aerodynamic design. Operated by two Wap-5 locomotives using the push-pull method, the trains offer seamless and efficient movement without the need for engine reversals.
Tailored to diverse passenger needs, the Amrit Bharat Express comprises 22 coaches, including both General and Sleeper class compartments. With a total capacity of approximately 1,800 passengers, the trains provide a flexible configuration, allowing travelers to choose the level of comfort that aligns with their preferences and travel requirements.
The expansion of Amrit Bharat Express services signifies a commendable step forward in Indian Railways' commitment to innovation, indigenous manufacturing, and providing passengers with advanced, efficient, and comfortable rail travel experiences.
