UP Chief Secretary and LMRC MD inspects Gorakhpur metro rail routes

Gorakhpur (Urban Transport News): To speed up the Gorakhapur Metro rail project, on of the pet project of Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath, Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Planning Department Deepak Kumar along with Lucknow Metro Managing Director Kumar Keshav on Friday has inspected Mohammedpur from Dharamshala to Tarang crossing and Gorakhnath Mandir. Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar inquired from the local authorities about the road bottlenecks and talked about the solution.

A total of 27 km long metro rail project is proposed in Gorakhpur under which two metro corridors will be built. One corridor will be from Gulariha to Collectorate and the other from Shyamnagar to Suba Bazar near Mahesra. On Thursday, LMRC MD Kumar Keshav and Chief Engineer Ravi Jain have also visited the metro route with PWD engineers. The officials inspected the routes from Mohaddipur to the railway station, Gorakhnath Mandir Gate to Bargadwan and Shyam Nagar, Gulriha to Transport Nagar via Asuran. While interacting with the reporter, LMRC MD Kumar Keshav said,

It is proposed that the metro will run in Gorakhpur on pillars with 2 metres width and the proposed distance between the pillars is 27 metres. It will be difficult to construct pillars on a four-lane road. Engineers will try to find an alternative so that metro pillars can be made without any hindrance along with the four-lane road's construction.

Every day a large number of people come here for work and other necessities. In such a situation, the need for universal public transport was being felt here for a long time. After Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister, for the first time the issue of metro rail in Gorakhpur came in the form of a proposal.
