Kolkata, India (Urban Transport News): In a progressive move to elevate public transportation services across West Bengal, the state government is set to introduce 700 buses, aiming to overhaul the existing public transit infrastructure. A Fleet Upgrade

Scheduled to commence next month, the introduction of these buses includes a fleet of 300 brand-new vehicles and 400 upgraded buses. The latter category comprises units that have undergone extensive refurbishment, repairs, and repainting at various depots, ensuring a renewed and efficient public transit system for the residents.

Operated by West Bengal Transport Corporation (WBTC), South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC), and North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC), these buses are poised to serve diverse routes across the state.

Financial Commitment

Underlining the government's commitment to this transportation overhaul, a substantial sum of ₹200 crore has been allocated for the project. This financial commitment underscores the significance of modernizing the public transportation network to align with the growing needs of the populace.

Passenger Comfort as a Priority

Acknowledging the importance of passenger comfort, the initiative includes a thoughtful addition to some of the air-conditioned buses. The introduction of Bus Roof Mounted Air Purification System (BRMAPS) aims to elevate the air quality within the buses. These systems will be equipped with sensors to monitor real-time air quality, including levels of particulate matter. This proactive approach aligns with global efforts to create healthier and more sustainable transportation solutions.

Air Purification Technology

The Bus Roof Mounted Air Purification System (BRMAPS) is designed not only to enhance air quality but also to provide passengers with a more pleasant and comfortable travel experience. By incorporating sensors that measure particulate matter levels, the system ensures that the air inside the buses remains at optimal quality. This technological addition is a significant step towards addressing environmental concerns and prioritizing passenger well-being.

A Step Towards Sustainable Transportation

As the state embraces these enhancements to its public transportation system, it underscores a commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly solutions. The upgraded buses and the incorporation of air purifiers align with a broader vision of creating a modern and efficient transit system that prioritizes both environmental considerations and passenger comfort.

The introduction of 700 upgraded buses, coupled with the implementation of air purification technology, represents a significant stride in West Bengal's commitment to revolutionize its public transportation system. The state looks forward to a future where residents can rely on an advanced and eco-friendly transit network for their daily commuting needs.
