Chennai, India (Urban Transport News): The winners of the General Consultancy contract package (CMRL-P2-GC-02-2021) of Corridor 4 (Lighthouse – Poonamallee Bypass) is announced on September 30, 2021. The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has opened the financial bids of the long-awaited GC contract of Corridor 4 of Chennai Metro Rail Project, Phase 2.
As per the financial bid results, a consortium comprising of AECOM India – Oriental Consultants Global – Nippon Koei emerged as the lowest bidder by beating the other three consortia that participated in the contract. The winners have been decided based on the Quality and Cost Based System (QCBS) method wherein 70% weightage is given in technical bids and 30% in financial bid evaluation.

The scope of work includes the provision of General Consultancy services for Chennai Metro Rail Phase 2 Project – Corridor 4 and part of Corridor - 3 & 5.
Tender notice for this contract package was issued in May 2021. However, this was revised notice after some Indian consultants had raised objections to the tender clause.
The 26.09 km long corridor 4 will connect Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass via Porur through 28 stations. This corridor will have a total of 18 elevated and 10 underground metro stations. This line is part of the 118.9 km Phase 2 project.
In January 2020, CMRL had awarded the general consultancy (GC) worth Rs 348.1 crores to the consortium of Nippon Koei India Pvt. Ltd., Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers & Consultants Pvt. Ltd. and Balaji Railroad Systems Pvt. Ltd for providing GC services for the 52.01 km priority section (Corridor 3 & 5) of Chennai Metro's Phase 2 project.
