Delhi-Meerut RRTS project gets Rs.400 crores from UP Govt

Lucknow (Urban Transport News): Now after the Central Government, the Uttar Pradesh government has allocated a sum of Rs 400 crores in the Annual Budget for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS). In the General Budget released on Thursday, the UP Government has opened a treasure for the RRTS in 2019-20. Rs.150 crores has been allocated for the initial works in the metro rail projects in 5 cities including Meerut.

Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Rajesh Agrawal presented the state's budget for 2019-20 on Thursday. In which, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has given Rs 400 crore to its Delhi-Meerut RRTS project, promoting the regional rail transit systems in India. Earlier in the Union Budget, the Central Government released Rs.1000 crores for the RRTS. In this way, Rs. 1400 crores will be spent on the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor in the year 2020. After the announcement of the Center and the State Government, the Center will be winged in the ambitious project. Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor will be 82 km long and will have total 22 stations.

The DPR of the project has already been approved by the UP government, while the in-principal approval of the Delhi Government has been received recently. Pre-construction activities such as Geo-Technical Survey, Road Widening works, Utility Diversion, Initial Pile Load Testing etc. are on the rise for the construction of this corridor. On the directions of the government, the Meerut Development Authority has given 10 crore rupees to the NCRTC for the scheme. Project will be completed by 2025 NCRTC CPRO Sudhir Kumar Sharma said that this RRTS corridor which cover 82 km long distance from New Delhi to Meerut in less than 60 minutes. This is a new dedicated, fast speed, high capacity, comfortable rapid rail service. Which will add the NCR's regional nodes to Delhi.

NCRTC has established its area offices in Ghaziabad, Meerut and Delhi and has deployed officials to undertake the project. This corridor is expected to be completed by 2025. Rs 30 crores allotted to Meerut Metro In the budget on Thursday, the UP government has released Rs.150 crores for the initial works of Metro Rail projects in Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj and Jhansi along with Meerut. In this way, Meerut Metro will get Rs 30 crore. The Meerut Metro project, which was waiting for the approval of the Central Government, has also been amended in the last one year.

A corridor has been connected with RRTS in the 2 corridors of Meerut Metro. Now the only Metro corridor will be constructed from Shradhapuri to Gokulpur. According to the experts, this fund of 30 crore can be utilized on the flyover for Begumpul, Hapur Crossing and Tejagadi crossings, while the earlier projects like Geo-Technical Survey, Road Widening, Utility Diversion can be done.
