Noida, India (Urban Transport News): The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has decided to connect the upcoming international airport in Jewar with Greater Noida using driverless pod taxis. The Driverless Pod Taxi is a popular mode of public transport in many western countries that can accommodate four to six people per car.
At present, the upcoming airport in Jewar is connected through two major expressways, the Yamuna Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway, which connects northern and southern areas around the National Capital Region (NCR).
In December of last year, the Uttar Pradesh Government had approved the bid by Zurich Airport International for the development of the Noida International Airport in Jewar.
"The upcoming airport is easily approachable through road from Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and a large area of Uttar Pradesh. To help reduce travel time, we are working on pod taxis that will give a hassle-free travel experience to the commuters. Also, as the Film City will be developed in the Jewar area, the pod taxi service will be of great help in connectivity," said Arun Veer Singh, Chief Executive Officer of YEIDA.
