Afcons Infra and ITD Cementation bags Bangalore Metro Phase II contracts

Bangalore (Urban Transport News): The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRC) has recently announced the winners of two major civil contract package RT-01 and RT-04 of phase 2 of Bangalore Metro rail project. After the opening of financial bids, Afcons Infrastructure Limited and ITD Cementation India Limited emerged as the lowest bidders in Contract Package RT-01 and Contract Package RT-04 respectively.

Contract Package RT-01

Afcons Infrastructure Limited emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) among four other bidders namely L&T Construction, ITD Cementation India Limited, Patel-SMU JV and HCC-GULERMARK JV. However, Patel-SMU JV and HCC-GULERMARK JV were found disqualified in the Technical Bid. The scope of work includes design and construction of Underground Structure (Tunnels & Stations) from South Ramp (including) to Vellara Junction station (excluding) (Ch. 7521.161) m to 11176.615 m) including allied work and 3 (three) Underground metro station Viz.

Dairy Circle, MICO Industries and Langford Town in Reach-6 of Phase 2 of Banglore Metro Rail Project. The Afcons Infractutre Limited has quoted Rs.1,526.33 crores and emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) whereas the rest two bidders L&T Construction and ITD Cementation India Limited had quoted 1,624.50 crores and Rs.1,684.36 crores, and emerged as L2 and L3 respectively.

Contract Package RT-04

ITD Cementation India Limited emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) among four other bidders namely Afcons Infrastructure Limited, L&T Construction, Patel-SMU JV and HCC-GULERMARK JV. However, Patel-SMU JV and HCC-GULERMARK JV were not qualified in the Technical Bid. The scope of work includes design and construction of underground structures (Tunnels & Stations) of length 4.591 km (approx.) from South of Tannery Road Station to North Ramp (Ch. 16822.521 m to Ch. 21413.298 m) including allied works and 4 (four) of Underground Stations viz.

Tannery Road, Venkateshpura, Arabic College and Nagawara in Reach-6 of Phase 2 of Bangalore Metro Rail Project. The ITD Cementation India Limited has quoted Rs.1,771.25 crores and emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) whereas the rest two bidders Afcons Infractutre Limited and L&T Construction had quoted Rs 1,783.76 crores and Rs.1,790.05 crores, and emerged as L2 and L3 respectively.

Letter of Acceptance

The formal letter of acceptance (LoA) to both winners will be issued after the evaluation of financial bids.

About Namma Metro Phase 2 project

Phase 2 of Bangalore Metro Rail Project spans a length of 72.095 km (13.79 km underground, 0.48 km at grade and 57.825 km elevated), and adds 62 stations to the metro rail network. Of which, 12 stations will be underground and 50 stations will be elevated. The project is being funded by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). In June this year, BMRC and AIIB has signed an agreement for financial assistance of US$335 million (about Rs 2300 crore).
