Kanpur, India (Urban Transport News): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) on October 14, 2021 (Thursday) opened the technical bids for the construction of 4.65 km long undergroung tunnel with three metro stations between Nayaganj Station and Transport Nagar Ramp under Package KNPCC-06 of Kanpur Metro Rail Project.
As per the information shared by UPMRC, the following firms and consortia have been submitted their bids for execution of this contract package.
The scope of work under the contract package KNPCC-06 includes design and construction of TBM tunnel, cut and cover tunnel, underground ramp from Kanpur Central end of Nayaganj station to elevated ramp after Transport Nagar and three underground metro stations (viz. Kanpur Central, Jhakarkatti and Transport Nagar) including architectural finishes, E and M, TVS, ECS etc. on Corridor-1 of Kanpur Metro Rail Project at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Tender notice for this contract package was issued in June 2021 with an estimated cost of work is Rs 1,250 crores.
As per the UPMRC, this contract package will also be financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB). For this, EIB had approved €650 million (approx. Rs. 5661 crore) loan to Govt. of India in July 2020.
Recently, the workers of Gulermak – Sam India JV commenced the construction of first underground stretch between Permat Ramp and Nayajang at Naveen Market. The have started the casting of pre-cast ring segments for the 4 km long tunnel of underground section to be built between Chunniganj and Nayaganj at the Casting Yard in Kanpur.
