Orrisa CM Patnaik flags off 'Mo Bus' services to boost intercity travel in smart city

Bhubaneswar (Urban Transport News): Orrisa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday (ahead of Diwali) flagged off the hi-tech Bus Services for the people of Bhubaneswar Smart City. It has been named as "Mo Bus" service. This service was launched as a part of state government-owned Capital Region Urban Transport’s (CRUT) ‘City Bus Modernisation’ programme.

These hi-tech buses will be run from Bhubaneswar on the routes of Cuttack and Puri. In the first phase of Mo bus service, 100 buses will be run between Puri, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack. These buses will cover initially nine routes and run between 7 am and 10 pm. In these buses, women can travel safely till 10 o'clock in the night.

While launching the 'Mo Bus' service, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “I’m very glad to have launched the ‘Mo Bus’ service which will be able to handle traffic in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, and Puri. I’m very happy that half of the crew will be women and the bus is equipped with many advanced technologies.”

In the second phase, 100 more buses will be run. These buses will have 50 percent women seats. If you are traveling on this bus and if a woman comes, you may have to wake up. These buses will be run from Bhubaneswar on the routes of Cuttack and Puri.

'Mo Bus' equipped with many modern amenities Location of these buses of 'Mo Bus' service plan equipped with the latest electronic equipment can also be found on mobile. They will also have GPRS which will keep in mind that where is the bus. Apart from this, CCTV surveillance cameras will be installed. The mobile app is also designed. These buses will be controlled from Bhubaneswar Operation Center by the Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited. ‘In Phase-I, 100 new buses will start running on 9 routes under the ‘Mo Bus’ service.

Commuters can get regular bus services in every 10 and 15 minutes in peak and non-peak hours respectively”, said Krishan Kumar, Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC). 'Mo Bus' App can be downloaded from Google Play Store and App Store. The public helpline number for Mo Bus services is 18003450061. It is expected that the Phase-II of the 'Mo Bus' services will be launched from November 15 and the Phase-III will be rolled out on December 10.
