Vivek Kumar Gupta assumes charge as Managing Director of National High Speed Rail Corporation

New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): In a groundbreaking development, the dynamic Vivek Kumar Gupta, an accomplished IRSE 1988 batch officer, has officially assumed the pivotal role of Managing Director at the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd. (NHSRCL). This marks a significant milestone as the organization spearheads India's maiden bullet train project.

Gupta brings a wealth of experience, having served as the Principal Executive Director/Gati-Shakti at the Railway Board, where he orchestrated the collaborative efforts of seven crucial departments. His strategic leadership played a pivotal role in the planning and execution of multifaceted projects, aligning with the PM Gati-Shakti program's overarching theme.

Throughout his illustrious career, Gupta has held key positions within Central & Western Railway, including roles such as Chief Administrative Officer (Construction), Chief Track Engineer, Chief Bridge Engineer, and Divisional Railway Manager (DRM). His accountability extended to a diverse array of projects, covering everything from new line construction to gauge conversion, doubling/multi-tracking, and the maintenance of crucial railway bridges.

Notably, during his tenure as Chief Engineer at Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC), Gupta played a pivotal role in coordinating transformative projects such as MUTP I/MUTP II and MUTP III, with a combined cost of approximately Rs. 20,000 Cr. His leadership extended to the preparatory phases of the monumental MUTP 3A project, valued at about Rs. 34,000 Cr. His adept coordination skills were instrumental in liaising with influential entities like the World Bank, AIIB, MMRDA, CIDCO, and GoM, addressing intricate planning and execution challenges.

As the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Bhusaval from April 2019 to August 2021, Gupta assumed comprehensive responsibilities for the entire Bhusaval division of Central Railway. His duties encompassed ensuring safety protocols, enhancing operational efficiency, overseeing infrastructural projects, controlling revenue expenditures, and championing staff welfare initiatives.
