Chennai, India (Urban Transport News): The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) invites online tenders for the construction of 5.8 km of the underground stretch of the corridor-5 of Phase II of the Chennai Metro Rail project.
The Government of India has applied for financing from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) toward the cost of construction of the underground section of Corridor-5 of the Chennai Metro Rail project and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under these contract packages.

Earlier on 7th November 2020, CMRL had invited bids for the construction of other underground stretches under contract packages TU01 (Venugopal Nagar Shaft to Kelly’s Station), TU02 (Kellys Station to Taramani Road Junction), UG-01 (Madhavaram to Perambur), UG-02 (Ayanavaram to Kellys), UG-03 KMC to Royapettah), UG-04 (Radhakrishnan to Adyar Junction) and UG-05 (Adyar Depot – Taramani Link Road Ramp).
