Haridwar, India (Urban Transport News): The Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation Ltd has invited bids from global firms for development of 20.7 kilometres Personalised Rapid Transit (PRT) System in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The system will be called “Haridwar Darshan PRT” and will be developed on PPP Model.
The Uttarakhand Metro Rail, Urban Infrastructure & Building Construction Corporation Ltd (UKMRC) is an initiative by Govt. of Uttarakhand to offer world class, state-of-art commuting facilities, building infrastructures & integrated townships to its residents to improve the quality of life of citizens of Uttarakhand.
The Govt. of Uttarakhand is willing to undertake Development, Operation and Maintenance of a Personalised Rapid Transit (PRT) Project through Public Private Partnership (PPP) on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.
The scope of work will broadly include construction of 4 (four) corridors including ancillary works and; operation & maintenance of Personalised Rapid Transit (PRT) system. The 4 (four) corridors are as follows:-
The total length of PRT network will be 20.7 km and will have 21 stations.
Personal Rapid Transit (PRT), also referred to as podcars or guided/railed taxis, is a public transport mode featuring small low-capacity automated vehicles operating on a network of specially built guideways. The personal rapid transit system adopts small, fully automated, battery-powered electric vehicles. Each vehicle has 500kg payload and 40kph operating speed.
