Ahmedabad (Urban Transport News): The board of Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) has given its approval to IL&FS Engg and Construction Company for the revival of the contract of Ahmedabad Metro in respect of the construction of viaduct corridor from interface point with Gyaspur Depot. The work involves abutment of Gyaspur Depot to APMC Metro Station and Shreyas Metro Station to all-inclusive of an elevated portion from Chainage (-) 1374.50 to (+) 3246.50 m and four elevated Metro stations viz. APMC, Jivraj, Rajiv Nagar and Shreyas for Package-l of North-South corridor of Phase I of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project.
Construction of Viaduct Corridor from Interface Point with Gyaspur Depot, that is, Abutment of Depot to APMC Metro Rail Station to Shreyas Metro-Rail station all-inclusive of elevated Via-duct portion from chainage (-)1374.50 to (+) 3246.50 m and Elevated Metro Stations (Four Numbers) Viz. APMC, Jivraj, Rajivnagar, and Shreyas for Package-1 of North-South Corridor for Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-1.
The original contract was awarded to IL&FS Engg & Construction Company on December 11, 2015. The revival of the contract is allowed without any change in the financial terms of the original contract.
GMRC has directed IL&FS Engg to start work by September 12 and complete the remaining civil work within a time period of 15 months without fail.
The total value of the contract was Rs.382.22 crores. Of which work of Rs.213.24 crore already completed and the value of remaining work is estimated to Rs.168.98 crore. On January 19, 2019, the GMRC had terminated this contract citing poor performance and delay in work. Now the GMRC and IL&FS Engineering agreed to revive the contract and treat the intervening period from the date of termination as suspension of work without any extra claims except payment under price variation. The IL&FS Engineering had stopped the work since last year September 2018 due to financial constraints at the parent group.
