Greater Noida (Urban Transport News): The Greater Noida Authority has once again started the exercise to connect Greater Noida West area with the Metro Rail. There is a plan to link the Aqua Line Metro from Noida Sector-71 to 130-meter expressway in front of the Greater Noida Authority's office. To connect Noida-Greater Noida Aqua Line Metro with the Greater Noida West area a proposal will be brought in the next board meeting. The next Board meeting of Greater Noida Authority is proposed on December 3. The most important agenda in this meeting will be Greater Noida West Metro.
Narendra Bhushan, CEO of Greater Noida Authority, said that the plan to run the metro to provide better transport facilities to people living in Greater Noida West has been planned. According to the plan, this new route will connect the aqua line from Noida Sector-71 to Gaur City of the Graeter Noida West area. Greater Noida Authority is the first station of the Aqua line which falls in the Greater Noida city. This will make the Metro a corridor and residents from Dadri will also be able to use the Metro rail facility near Tilpata.
For this, a proposal will be presented in the board meeting and once the proposal is passed, the survey work for the new metro line will be assigned to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the DPR will be prepared. The corridor will be planned in two phases and under phase-I, the metro will start run between Noida Sector-71 and Gaud City. Earlier, a plan was made to construct the Metro line from the Noida Sector-71 to Knowledge Park-V. The Authority has held this project due to some technical reasons. The then CEO informed about this in May 2018.
He had said that after the Noida-Greater Noida Metro will start, some buses from this route would be removed and would be deployed in Greater Noida West area. Earlier, in June 2017, the then CEO of Greater Noida Authority, Devashish Panda, started the exercise of bringing Metro project to the ground. It was proposed to construct 9 metro stations on the route of Greater Noida West. Now the number of stations will increase if the length of the route increases.
At present, there is only one bus running for Greater Noida West area and thousands of people depend on auto-rickshaw services. It is expected that in the next few years, there will be about three lakh families in Greater Noida West. There are more than 40 thousand families living in newly built societies. In the last two years, 34908 families have been given possessions. In the next 2-3 months, 11902 families have to be given the possession. For this, 28 builders have sought compliance certificates from the Authority. The Metro rail facility will benefit the thousands of people from the whole NCR, apart from Noida and Greater Noida.
