Keolis MHI and University of Birmingham sign MoU to advance Railway Sector in UAE

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (Urban Transport News): Keolis MHI, a prominent transportation services provider, has recently announced a strategic partnership with the University of Birmingham (UoB) aimed at advancing the railway sector in the UAE and the wider region. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed by Wallace Weatherill, Managing Director of Keolis MHI, and Professor Yusra Mouzughi, Provost of the University of Birmingham in Dubai, solidifies their mutual commitment to driving innovation within the rail industry.

The signing ceremony, held recently, marks the commencement of a collaborative effort focused on providing internship and work opportunities for University of Birmingham students with Keolis MHI. Under the MOU, both entities will establish working groups to develop action plans in the coming months and explore potential collaborative research projects. Through initiatives such as employability events and collaboration on innovation projects, students will gain invaluable industry insights and opportunities to build their future careers.

The MOU signifies a shared commitment between the University of Birmingham and Keolis MHI to foster closer collaboration, with a focus on driving innovation, sustainability, and positive outcomes for students and the wider community.

Keolis MHI Rail Management and Operation LLC is a consortium comprised of Keolis, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Engineering, and Mitsubishi Corporation. Specializing in operating and maintaining the Dubai Metro and operating the Tram, Keolis MHI began operations on September 8, 2021, under a long-term contract in partnership with Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
