Hyderabad Metro launches free shuttle bus services for commuters

Hyderabad (Urban Transport News): It is good news for the Hyderabad Metro users that the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has launched free shuttle bus services to provide better last mile connectivity solutions. These shuttle buses will run from 8.00 am to 12.00 noon and from 4.00 pm to 09.00 pm.

Initially, the Hyderabad Metro Rail authority is running the bus services at free of cost to the commuters. The buses will run from Durgam Cheruvu station to Gachibowli and financial district. To promote the use of public transport in the Hyderabad city, 12 IT companies have come together to provide transport to their employees to metro stations from Hitec City and Durgam Cheruvu.

Last month NVS Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited has conducted a meeting with the IT companies to support HMRL's initiative to make the Hyderabad as a greener city. These IT companies have come forward to provide transport to their employees to metro stations from Hitec City and Durgam Cheruvu.

After the launch of the suttle service, commuters are feeling a great relief in travelling directly to the office from the station without having to hail shared autos or other modes of transport. The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited is planning to launch more such services to ease last mile connectivity and increase the metro ridership.

The Authority aims about 10 Lakh commuters per day in coming days after completion of the project. On Wednesday, the Hyderabad Metro witnessed 2.60 lakh patronage in connection with IPL cricket match at Uppal stadium.
