Lucknow (Urban Transport News): Kumar Keshav, Managing Director of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) was awarded as the ‘Construction World-Person of the year’ 2019 at Construction World Global Awards 2019. Kumar Keshav who is presently heading the Lucknow Metro Rail Project along with other metro rail projects in Kanpur, Agra and Meerut city was awarded for his remarkable achievements and exemplary contribution in the infrastructure sector.
This is the 17th edition of Construction World Global awards which were held at New Delhi. Every year they award an industry leader as the construction world person of the year to recognise his efforts in the construction sector. Kumar Keshav was chosen by the jury panel as the Construction World-Person of the year. Notable leaders like Dr. E Sreedharan, popularly known as Metroman, S. N. Subrahmanyan, CEO & MD–L&T have received this award earlier. While receiving the award, Kumar Keshav said:
I am delighted to receive this award (CW-Person of the year) and would like to extend my gratitude to the Construction World Global Awards for this honour. We at LMRC have worked tirelessly over the past 4 years without taking any break. Recognition like these motivate us to push our boundaries and do better. We hope to carry this momentum of the fastest construction for the upcoming Kanpur and Agra metro project as well.
An Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) officer and a gold medallist engineer from IIT-Kanpur (M. Tech.) and IIT-Roorkee (B.E.), Kumar Keshav took over charge as Managing Director of LMRC on August 18, 2014, and has not taken even a single leave since then. The whole project work so far has been completed under his astute leadership in the last four and a half years. Lucknow Metro Rail project has achieved the distinction of being the fastest-ever execution of the metro project in the country.
Even contemporary Metro projects in the country have not been able to match up with the speed of deliverance as compared to LMRC’s strength in project execution. He had a long tenure of more than ten years in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and contributed immensely to the successful implementation of Phase-I and Phase-II of the Delhi Metro Rail project since initial years. He is also credited with completing the Central Secretariat - Badarpur Metro project on 3rd October 2010 - just on the day of the start of the Commonwealth Games.
Approximately 70,000 people used this to reach the venue of the games. He also has to his credit construction of first Standard Gauge Kumar Keshav has also undertaken a very prestigious international Heavy Haul Rail Project in Queensland, Australia for Hancock Coal Pty Limited, Brisbane as Project Director - Rail from June'12 to August'14. As Project Director - Rail, he lead the definition of the project scope, design basis, project scheduling for USD 3.3 Billion 510 kilometre long heavy-haul standard gauge rail corridor from Mine to Port for Alpha Coal project in Australia and completely designed the implementation strategy, cost estimation and returns with for EPC contract finalization with international firms.
